Ursprung der Zukunft. Alte Münze neu geprägt.
Origin of the future. Old coin Newly minted.
We are opening the rooms of the Alte Münze to interested parties for 4 days, accompanied by an exhibition on the historical transformation since 2012 from a found, filled-in wreck to an extremely important cultural location in Berlin's Mitte district.
The exhibition "Change and Growth of a Former Mint" will be accompanied by a panel discussion on 6 October on the topic of cultural open spaces. Stakeholders with a wide variety of perspectives and points of view are invited to question together how much free space there still is, why is cultural free space important?

Alte Münze
The Alte Münze, a former mint in Berlin-Mitte on the banks of the Spree, offers space for art and culture makers, young Berlin creatives and various event formats. The ensemble of buildings run by the Spreewerkstätten in one of Berlin's oldest neighbourhoods is home to an interdisciplinary community and stands for future-oriented conversion of historic urban spaces as well as a diverse urban society in which there is solidarity between different projects with different demands and possibilities.
