In the panel talk we want to discuss the role of collectivisation and self-promotion in music and club culture. Collectives offer advantages for DJs: Joining together as a way of entering the scene, sharing tasks and cohesion, and supporting each other. Self-marketing, alone or as a collective, has increased due to the pandemic and the greater importance of social media - also and especially in Berlin, where being a DJ is no longer a unique selling point. We want to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of these developments in music and club culture.
