Three years ago, the Clubcommission, in collaboration with Berlin's Senator for Culture and Europe, Klaus Lederer, and the Musicboard Berlin, launched the TAG DER CLUBKULTUR. What started in 2020 as a project to provide short-term support for clubs and collectives in times of the pandemic has now become an established award for Berlin's club scene that each year tries to find answers to the current challenges and conditions for the city's club culture. This year's TAG DER CLUBKULTUR is themed Growing Roots - Shaping Spaces. Accordingly, the selection of the 40 award-winning clubs and collectives by this year's board of trustees focuses on the origins and influences from Black, PoC and queer communities and a wide spectrum of music genres, as well as on the question of space and the redistribution of resources. Where and how can club culture still take place in Berlin today? Who is able to and who should be shaping it? What conditions and measures are needed for this? What is the situation half a year after the reopening of the clubs and what is the outlook for this winter and the future? This year's board of trustees and Klaus Lederer will get to the bottom of these questions in a joint discussion moderated by Lutz Leichsenring.
